Team word game

A team word game where every word helps your side

Most word games are one against one. In Wordtide you can also play as a team: a small crew of friends, family or classmates working toward one goal each week, and a big Tide shared with many other players colouring the same endless board. Nobody needs to be online at the same time, and nobody needs to be the best player for the team to win.

Crews: a small team with a weekly goal

A crew is two to eight players. Each week the crew gets one shared target, a number of words or of tiles placed, sized to how many members it has. Every word a member plays on the live board counts toward it, and a progress bar shows how close you are.

When the crew reaches the goal, everyone who helped that week gets the reward: 150 XP and 40 Tide Pass points. The first completed week unlocks the Crewmate frame for your profile, and crews that keep it up earn the Star Crew frame. Once a day you can cheer a crewmate, a one-tap gift of a little XP.

Safe for families and classes

Crews have no chat and no free text. The crew name and emblem are picked from a list, and members appear under the names the game already shows. Junior players aged 7 to 12 can join crews; Little Tide, for the youngest, has none. You join a crew through its link, so it is easy to keep it to people you know.

Tides: four teams on one endless board

When you start, you join one of four Tides: Coral, Kelp, Lagoon or Sunset. Your words paint the map in your Tide's colour, and each week the Tides share a goal based on the week before, with XP for everyone who helps. During High Tide, a special hour on Sundays, everyone earns double and the Tides race for the week's result.

The Weekend Cup

From Friday 18:00 UTC until midnight UTC on Sunday, everyone plays the same five letter boards, with three tries each. Your best word on each board counts, and results are ranked among your friends, your crew and your league group, with a podium on Monday. It is a short, friendly competition you can play over one coffee or across the whole weekend.

Prefer one on one?

Send a friend a challenge link and you both play the same puzzle, then compare scores. Everything here is part of the same free game, so your crew, your Tide and your duels all build the same player.

Questions

How do I make or join a crew?

Open the Crew sheet in the game to start a crew, then share its link. Anyone who opens the link can join, up to eight members.

Do we have to play at the same time?

No. Crew goals, Tide goals and the Weekend Cup all run over days, so everyone plays when it suits them.

Does a team need strong players to win?

No. Crew goals count words or tiles, not points, so a beginner's short words help as much as an expert's long ones.

Is it free?

Yes. Crews, Tides and the Weekend Cup are free, and nothing you can buy earns team or league points.
