Word puzzle game

A word puzzle game with 100 levels to solve on your own

Solo Journey is the puzzle side of Wordtide. Instead of an endless board shared with other players, every level is a small, fixed board with a goal to reach in a limited number of moves. Nobody else plays on it, there is no clock, and you can stop at any point and pick it up later.

Play Wordtide freeNo download, no sign-up. Opens in your browser.

How a level works

Each level opens on a board with a few words already in place, a rack of seven letters and a goal, such as scoring 35 points, playing a five-letter word or using a particular letter. You place words that connect to the tiles on the board, just like in the main game, and you have a set number of moves to meet the goal.

Meet the goal and you earn a star. Score well above it and you earn two or three. Levels use the same scoring as the rest of Wordtide: rare letters are worth more, and bonus squares double or triple a letter or a whole word.

Eight islands, one new idea each

The 100 levels sit on eight islands. The first six have ten levels each and the last two have twenty. Every island introduces one mechanic and then mixes it with what came before.

Harbor Shallows teaches the basics. Meadow Isle adds rocks you have to build around. Glacier Reach has gem squares to cover. In Amber Dunes every level hides a secret word, with a clue to find it. Ember Peaks adds the tide clock, where moves you do not need pay a bonus. Crystal Caves mixes everything, Blossom Cape asks you to join two beacon squares with a single word, and Starlight City sets letter goals, like playing every letter of your first rack.

Boss levels and stars

Every tenth level is a boss: a two-part trial that combines earlier ideas, for example a target score plus a long word. Stars add up across the Journey and unlock island badges and a profile frame. Every level has been played through by test bots at different skill levels, so one star is within reach of a casual player and three stars is a real challenge.

Stuck? Hints that nudge first

Each move offers a free nudge that points you toward a good spot without giving the answer away. If you want the whole word, a lantern reveals it, and you get a few free lanterns every day. A word revealed by a lantern never earns league points, so rankings stay fair.

Play anywhere, even offline

Journey levels run on your device. Once you have opened Journey with a connection, it keeps working without one, which makes it a good pick for a flight or a commute. When you are back online, your stars and XP sync to your player.

Questions

Is the puzzle game free?

Yes. All 100 levels are free and none is locked behind a payment. Levels open one after another as you play.

Is there a time limit?

No. Levels have a move limit, not a clock. Take as long as you like over each move.

Can I replay a level for more stars?

Yes. Replay any level you have reached; your best stars are the ones that count.

Is it suitable for children?

Journey suits confident readers from about age 7. For younger children, Little Tide has picture-and-sound rounds with no reading.

What if I want a new puzzle every day?

Try the Daily Seven: seven new letters every day, the same for everyone, with three tries to find your best word.
