Guide
High-scoring words with Z, X and J
Rare letters are worth more on every tile, and the right short word turns one into a big move. Below: the top-scoring words for Z, X and J, and the short everyday ones you will actually play.
Points shown are plain tile points from Wordtide's own letter values (a word's score is the sum of its letters; bonus squares multiply it). Each section has the best-scoring words of up to eight letters, then short ones you can play in a tight spot.

Playing rare letters well
A rare letter on a double or triple letter square is worth more than any longer word that wastes it. Use it twice by placing it where it forms a word both across and down. And do not hold on too long: QUIZ, JAZZ, FIZZ are great when they fit, but a short play now keeps your rack moving.

Questions
Which letters are worth the most?
The table on the word finder page lists every letter's value. Rare letters pay more, but Wordtide tunes them for an endless board where long words are common, so very long words often beat a lone rare letter.
Do the points here include bonus squares?
No. They are plain tile points. On the board, double and triple squares multiply them, so the same word can score far more in the right place.
Should I hold a Z for a big play?
Holding one for a premium square can pay, but a short Z word played now often keeps your rack flowing. Judge by the spot you can see.
