Guide
Words with no vowels, and words that dump vowels
Rack stuck with all consonants, or buried in vowels? Both happen. There are real words with no A, E, I, O or U, and real words that burn four or five vowels at once.
The board has 118 words with none of A, E, I, O or U (counting Y as a consonant). Most are rare; these are the ones worth knowing.

Keeping the balance
A rack with two or three vowels gives the most options. If you are stuck on four or more of one kind, play a word from the lists above or use a swap. Browse by length at five-letter words to find your own favourites.

Questions
Does Y count as a vowel?
In this guide Y counts as a consonant, so words like MY or SHY are not listed under no-vowel words. They are valid either way.
Are no-vowel words valid in every word game?
Not always. Dictionaries differ. Everything on this page is valid in Wordtide's English world.
What if my rack is all vowels?
Play a vowel-heavy word from the list, or swap. Keeping a balance of about two or three vowels in seven tiles gives you the most options.
